About this instrument
Something about the simplicity of this one is attractive to me in the sense that every note must be intentional, and carries a lot of weight in its dynamic whispers and commanding chops. I've noticed that the instrument is a bit of a chameleon — I've never heard just one particular style of playing it, and every time I pick it up, I never know exactly where the journey is going to go.
In the first video I demonstrate more of its melancholic and sweet side, with maybe a little Turkish influence in there. In the second, I use more of a major-sounding key — rhythmic, crisp, and delicate.
